DECYTI – Department of Energy, Science, Technology and Innovation

This department of the Ministry of Foreign Relations aims to support the development and administration of international aspects of energy, innovation, research and scientific and technological development policy. DECYTI works with other government bodies, including the Ministry of Mining, the Ministry of Energy and the National Energy Commission on the issues of energy supply, new technology and renewable, non-conventional energy sources, helping to develop the country’s energy matrix.

This body also participates in negotiations for international treaties on matters relating to science, technology and energy, in conjunction with other State and private sector organizations. It also collaborates with the same institutions to monitor and implement treaties. DECYTI also participates in the astronomical councils for the ALMA and GEMINI funds and the ESO-Chilean Government mixed committee.
