ODUCAL is a Regional Association of Catholic universities in Latin America and the Caribbean affiliated with the International Federation of Catholic Universities (FIUC). It shares with its parent institution the aim of “contributing to the advancement of knowledge and the building of a fairer and more humane world, through the Christian faith and the Evangelical spirit” (Art. 2 of the Statutes of the FIUC).
ODUCAL was officially established in 1953 at the conference of Latin American Rectors at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago, Chile, having been previously approved by the World Federation of Catholic Universities (now the FIUC) at its Conference in Quebec, Canada in 1952. The organization is domiciled for official purposes at the headquarters of the Latin American Episcopal Council, while its administrative offices are located at the residence of the President of the Organization.
