The following Research Institutes are linked to UCN:
Founded in 1984, this institute aims to build on the legacy of Belgian Jesuit priest Gustavo Le Paige in San Pedro de Atacama by strengthening research and teaching and developing and disseminating the body of knowledge of archeological and anthropological topics acquired by Le Paige in the 1950s.
The quality of Chile’s skies and the presence of large observatories in the Region of Antofagasta has attracted scientific attention to our country. The Universidad Católica del Norte (UCN), aware of the potential of this activity, founded the Institute of Astronomy (IA), which seeks to build relationships within the scientific community and promote academic exchanges.
Forming part of the Faculty of Economics and Administration, IDEAR aims to study economic issues and particularly economic globalization from a regional perspective.
Part of the Vice-rectory for Research and Technological Development at UCN, the IPP aims to support academic development, promote research and disseminate results of studies and papers, and to provide a platform for strategic dialogues which support quality improvement in policy and public administration, all as part of broader processes for modernization and decentralization.
