Organizations for International Cooperation

AGCI – International Cooperation Agency (Chile)

The AGCI was founded on July 19th 1990 as a functionally decentralized public institution dedicated to identifying and channeling resources for international cooperation in order to support Chile’s development and match the country’s capacities with opportunities for cooperation with developing countries.

In this way, the agency has taken on the responsibility of defining objectives and strategies for international cooperation, based on Chile’s priorities for economic and social development. It is important to highlight that the agency’s initial moves towards international cooperation were oriented towards identifying and channeling resources for cooperation from developed countries.

However, its focus is now shifting to include both incoming and outgoing resources for cooperation, giving rise to the Program for Horizontal Cooperation in 1993.
