General Description

Among the values of a Catholic university is the professional commitment to contributing to the development and wellbeing of society in any ethical and moral way through God’s teachings. In this context, the Pastoral Theology Master’s program seeks to respond to the questions and challenges of the world and faith. A graduate with a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Theology is a specialist who is capable of analyzing and reflecting on the reality in Latin America and Chile, creatively working to promote their own abilities and teamwork through the creation and passing of knowledge. This program focuses on the theoretical, social and pastoral approaches.

Objectives

General Objectives

  • To shape Pastoral Agents (pastors, both religious and secular) who can develop a sufficient level of interdisciplinary ecclesiastic work leading to plans and actions which promote reflection and pastoral action, as well as sacramental, liturgical and catechetical strategies in pastoral environments.
  • To strengthen their own understanding of the discipline and express both Theology Departments, as a space for interdisciplinary pastoral thought in the university and the influential impact on the northern part of the country.

Specific Objectives

  • To develop an interdisciplinary perspective on pastoral agents.
  • To create academic/institutional opportunities to develop a permanent theology-pastoral research facility. To support future student pastoral, socio-ecclesiastical projects.
  • To use theological-pastoral tools of analysis to relate their ideas to the social sciences so that the students can develop the ability to formulate and evaluate social and pastoral projects.

Aimed at

The program is aimed at professionals (pastors, both religious and secular) who have a degree in Theology recognized or certified with a Bachelors in Theology or Religious Sciences.

Plan of Studies

The Pastoral Theology Master’s Degree Program is two years of courses and seminars distributed in intensive periods including four weeks in January and a year-long online project with the course and seminar professors and a mentor assigned to each student who will meet with them in July each year.

The Program is worth 64 Transferable Credits (SCT).
