General Description

The Master’s of Industrial Engineering is a professional, interdisciplinary postgraduate program. Classes are face-to-face and take place on weekends. The main areas of focus of this program are operations, management and leadership skills. These areas form the basis of continuous improvement in business processes, from the identification of opportunities for improvement up to the implementation of measures.

General Skills

Upon completion of the program, graduates of the Master’s in Industrial Engineering are expected to have gained the following skills and abilities:
1. Ability to detect opportunities for improvement and identify innovative solutions.
2. Ability to plan, organize and direct activities and resources. 
3. Effective communication of ideas for projects and process improvements. 
4. Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
5. Use of software tools for productivity (programming, databases, calculations spreadsheets etc.).
6. Quantitative thinking and emphasis on optimization
7. Continuous application of methodological rigor.

Specific Skills:

As part of the Master’s Program in Industrial Engineering, students will develop the following field-specific competencies:
1. Development and solution of analytical models.
2. Implantation of improvements in complex systems, based on solutions to analytical models and/or simulations.
3. Optimization of complex systems made up of people, machines and equipment. 
4. Planning, organization, leadership and tactical control of systems for production, operations and services.
5. Definition, measurement, analysis, improvement and control of business processes.
6. Formulation, evaluation and implementation of investment projects and process redesigns.

Occupational Field:

Graduates of the Master’s of Industrial Engineering will be capable of working in institutions and organizations in the private and public sector, whether at the operational, tactical or strategic level. Areas of interest include production, logistics, operations, asset management, supply chain, Integrated Project Management and resource management in general.

Objectives

General Objective

The aim of the Master’s of Industrial Engineering is to facilitate the professional development of engineers in the region through training in skills oriented towards improving operational efficiency and decision-making.

Specific Objectives

-Provide students with tools from the field of Industrial Engineering in order to improve analytical capacity and decision-making and build leadership skills, with a focus on the key industries in the north of Chile.
-Continuously improve the quality of teaching and learning through the implementation of a quality management system.

Candidate Profile

The Master’s Program in Industrial Engineering is aimed at professionals from diverse fields of engineering and management with at least two years of professional experience. Candidates should be interested in gaining the skills necessary to design, evaluate and implement improvements to operational processes within complex production systems.

Prerequisites

The main prerequisites for admission to the Master’s Program in Industrial Engineering are:

  1. Professional and/or academic degree in any Management or Engineering discipline of no less than 8 semesters in length.
  2. At least 2 years of proven professional experience.

Applicants should send the following documents to the Director of the Master’s Program.

    f) Transcript of grades from undergraduate degree

Candidates will take part in a personal interview with the Program Director and/or members of the Academic Committee.

Classes take place on Fridays and Saturdays.

Classes on Fridays are from 17:00 to 23:15. Classes on Saturdays are from 09:00 to 21:00. There is a break of one week between modules.
