The University Editions editorial at the Universidad Católica del Norte was created in 1992 in order to create a space for the literary expression of northern authors, strengthening the cultural identity and highlighting the creative heritage of writers from the region.
In its 10 years of existence, University Editions has published over 80 titles on a diverse range of issues, representing the fruits of the editorial’s hard work. University Editions has contributed to the literary development of the greater northern zone by giving an incentive for the work of talented but undiscovered authors through the Story Competitions organized each year by DICOA.
This initiative has been supported by Minera Escondida Ltda. and Empresa Periodística El Norte S.A. through the El Mercurio newspaper chain. Other works published by University Editions have been sponsored by entities such as the National Council for Books and Reading as well as institutions and companies from the private sector such as PROA and Zaldivar, among others.
