General Description

The Master’s of Information and Technology Management (MGIT) is a full-time program based on a personalized plan of studies with virtual and face-to-face activities.

  • The program develops primarily, but not exclusively, the areas of:
  • eBusiness, eCommerce
  • eGovernance
  • IT Business Value
  • IT Acceptance and Use.

Objective

The general objective of the MGIT program is to provide scientific training to professionals in the field of Digital Information and Technology Management, developing a rigorous and systematic approach and providing a foundation in basic and applied research in a social and organizational context.

The specific objectives of the program are:

  • To train researchers in the area of Information and Technology Management.
  • To participate in networks of researchers in the field at the national and Latin American level.
  • To develop scientific knowledge in terms of indexed articles based on graduate theses

Candidate Profile

Candidates will hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent academic or professional qualification in a field relating to the subject matter of the MGIT. Students who have obtained their qualifications overseas should validate their degree before the Ministry of Foreign Relations or the Ministry of Education in Chile, as necessary.

Plan of Studies

During the first semester, students will prepare, present and defend a research paper of 5000 words.

During the second semester, students will prepare, present and defend their thesis proposal.

During the third semester, students will prepare, present and defend an article based on the initial stages of their thesis at a conference relating to the subject matter of the program.

During the fourth semester, students will finalize, present and defend their final thesis article, with the approval of their supervisors.

MGIT

Prerequisites

Prerequisites for the program are as follows:

  • Students should hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent academic or professional qualification in areas linked to the subject matter of the MGIT program.
  • Students who have obtained their degree from a foreign university should validate their studies before the Ministry of Foreign Relations or Ministry of Education in Chile, as necessary.
  •  Students should have a proven record of academic excellence, as reflected by at least one of the following conditions:  An overall average grade of at least 5.0 (on a scale of 1-7) or equivalent for their undergraduate degree.
  • Being in the top 30% of graduates from their undergraduate program for their graduating year.
  • Proven upper-intermediate level of reading comprehension in English.

Candidates should provide the following documents:

  • Application form
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Copy of Chilean national ID card or Passport
  • Copy of undergraduate degree certificate, legalized by a notary public (UCN graduates are exempt from this requirement)
  • Transcript of grades for undergraduate degree (UCN graduates are exempt from this requirement)
  • Ranking certificate for undergraduate degree (UCN graduates are exempt from this requirement)
  • Two letters of recommendation. If students are currently enrolled in undergraduate studies at UCN and wish to progress directly onto this program, they should also attach a letter of approval from the Head of their Undergraduate Degree Program.
  • A letter of application, explaining the candidates interest in the program.

Observation Program fee does not include general fees or cost of academic diploma.
