Doctorate in Sciences, Specialization in Physics

Campus

Antofagasta

Duration

4 años

Description

The Ph.D. Program in Sciences with a Major in Physics (DCMF) has an academic character, and it requires a full-time dedication. It seeks to train researchers with advanced knowledge, with emphasis from both the fundamental topics of physics, as well as the specific lines of the Program.

Lines of Research

  1. Statistical Physics
  2. Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Field Theory
  3. Nanoscience
  4. Galactic Astrophysics

Goals

The Doctorate aims to train researchers with advanced knowledge, with emphasis on research from both the fundamental topics of physics and the specific lines of the Program, capable of developing original, innovative research, independently and or in collaboration, fostering the integration and development of high-level research.

Graduation Profile:

The graduate of the program will have acquired a solid formation in the fundamental pillars of physics. Able to develop independent research and actively collaborate in research groups generating original contributions to knowledge and contributing to the advancement of a scientific area.

During the training process, the future graduate develops different types of competences: specific and generic. The former represent areas of knowledge and specific application for the performance of the professional activity. The second corresponds to attributes of scientific work at a professional level and their ability to develop activity in a global community that allows continuous training.

Addressed to

The program is aimed at those who have a Bachelor’s degree in Physics or an equivalent professional degree, proving adequate prior training for the purposes and requirements of the program.
